I congratulate Blacktown Police Officer, Acting Sergeant Rebecca Abel, on being named the 2025 Sabine Altmann DV Practitioner of the Year by the NSW Police Force.
The prestigious award celebrates the officer who has demonstrated commitment and impact in responding to domestic and family violence.
The award was presented by the Commissioner of Police, Mal Lanyon. Acting Sergeant Abel was recognised for her collaborative abilities and progressive strategies that improved outcomes for victims of domestic and family violence.
Her guidance has seen the Blacktown Police Area Command's domestic violence team become highly regarded for their management of and response to domestic violence cases.
I thank Acting Sergeant Abel for her dedication to a leading approach to family and domestic violence by police in Blacktown. Her work has comforted families in their darkest hours, brought hope to victims, ensured justice prevails and raised the standard of police responses to family and domestic violence across the State.
