I congratulate the school communities of Blacktown Boys High School and Blacktown Girls High School on their successful consultations with the Government to ensure that they remain single-sex schools. 

The school communities led by the P&Cs came together to strongly reject the proposed changes in favour of the proven, successful environment which has produced some of our area's brightest students across generations.

In last year's HSC, the two schools achieved 68 distinguished achievements, four all rounders and one top achievement—rank one in information process and technology.

Because of the schools' advocacy, intake areas of nearby co-ed high schools will be adjusted to include students living in the current catchment for Blacktown Boys and Blacktown Girls high schools, expanding parental choice.

I again congratulate Blacktown Boys and Blacktown Girls high schools. May they continue their success for generations to come.
